Curriculum & Daily Life
At Broomhall Under 3s, every day is an opportunity for children to explore, discover, and grow. Our curriculum is carefully designed around the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, focusing on learning through play, developing confidence, and nurturing curiosity in a safe and caring environment.
We believe children learn best when they feel happy, secure, and supported, and when play, care, and learning blend naturally throughout the day.
Our Curriculum Approach
Our curriculum follows the EYFS and focuses on the seven areas of learning and development:
Prime Areas (the foundations for learning)
Our experienced team plans activities that follow your child’s interests and next steps, helping them make progress at their own pace.
Communication and Language – developing listening, understanding, and early speech.
Physical Development – encouraging movement, coordination, and independence.
Personal, Social and Emotional Development – building confidence, friendships, and emotional wellbeing.
Literacy – exploring books, stories, and early mark-making.
Mathematics – introducing counting, shapes, patterns, and problem-solving through play.
Understanding the World – discovering nature, family, and the wider community.
Expressive Arts and Design – painting, music, role play, and creativity every day.
A Typical Day at Broomhall Under 3s
Our days are filled with fun, learning, and care, all at a pace that suits young children.
Example daily routine:
Learning Through Play
Play is at the heart of everything we do. We create rich, stimulating environments where children can explore safely, make choices, and follow their curiosity, indoors, outdoors, and in our sensory and creative spaces.
Our staff observe, support, and extend play to encourage early communication, problem-solving, and imagination.
Your Child’s Journey
Every child has a Key Person who gets to know them closely and supports their learning journey. We record each child’s progress in line with EYFS guidance, celebrating milestones and sharing updates with parents regularly.
Parents are encouraged to be part of their child’s learning through informal chats, progress meetings, and shared observations.
Outdoor Learning
We make the most of our outdoor space every day, whatever the weather! Children enjoy fresh air, movement, and hands-on discovery in our secure garden, developing confidence, coordination, and a love for nature.
