What are your opening times?
Broomhall Under 3s is open during term time only (38 weeks per year) and offers the following sessions:
• Breakfast Club: 8:00 – 9:00 am
• Morning Session: 9:00 – 12.00 am
• Lunch Club: 11:30 am – 1:00 pm
• Afternoon Session: 1:00 – 3/4.00 pm
• Tea Club: 4.00 – 5:00 pm
Are you ofstead registered?
Yes, we are fully registered with Ofsted and have consistently achieved Outstanding ratings in 2011–2012, 2015–2016, and 2017–2018, and were rated Good in 2023. You can view our most recent report here: Ofsted 2023 Report
How can i pay nursery fees?
Payments are made in advance via BACS, cheque, or cash. We currently do not accept card payments.
We are registered with most childcare voucher providers and can register with new ones if required.
Payments are usually made monthly — our admin team will confirm details when you register.
Do you offer government funded childcare?
Yes, we accept government-funded places for eligible children from 9 months old.
To access funding, families must apply through the local authority and provide an FEL code or confirmation email.

What are your staff-to-child ratios?
We follow Ofsted guidelines:
• Under 2 years: 1 adult: 3 children
• 2–3 years: 1 adult: 4 children
What qualifications do your staff hold?
Most of our team are qualified to Level 3 in Childcare and all hold up-to-date:
• Paediatric First Aid
• Safeguarding & Child Protection
• Food Hygiene certificates
Staff regularly attend refresher training to ensure high standards of care. Experienced team members closely supervise any trainees working toward qualifications.
How do you monitor my child’s progress?
Each child is assigned a Key Person, who builds a trusting relationship with them and their family.
Your Key Person observes and records your child’s development through the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and maintains an individual Learning Journey. Regular updates are shared with parents, and progress is reviewed together.
Do you have written policies and procedures?
Yes, we follow Sheffield City Council and Sheffield Safeguarding Children Partnership guidelines. Our policies cover all areas of nursery life, including: Health & Safety, Safeguarding, Staffing, Inclusion, and Child Protection.

What should my child bring each day?
Please bring a named bag with spare clothes, nappies, wipes (if required), and any comforters your child may need.
If staying for a packed lunch or Tea Club, please provide their meal in a clearly labelled lunchbox.
What happens during outdoor play?
If your child becomes unwell while at nursery, we will contact you immediately. Children should stay home for 48 hours after any sickness or diarrhoea, in line with Public Health guidance.
Children play outdoors every day in our secure garden. We encourage outdoor learning in all weathers, so please dress your child appropriately (e.g. coats, wellies, sun hats).
What if my child is unwell?
Do you close for holidays?
Yes, we are term-time only, closing during Sheffield school holidays and public bank holidays. Our term dates are shared in advance each year.
Do you accept tax free childcare and vouchers?
Yes, we are registered for Tax-Free Childcare and most voucher schemes. If your employer uses a provider we’re not yet registered with, we can easily add them.
